One of my favourite things to do with the child is to go on nature walks. It gives us lots of fresh air and exercise and the chance to learn things – thank heavens for a data connection and easy access to google when I can’t answer any of his questions! He loves it when we find what we call “treasures” and we’ve amassed quite a collection.
This is post I’ve been meaning to write for a few weeks now. On a visit to a beach, we spent 2 or 3 hours scouring sands for “treasures” and we hit lucky in a big way. Apart from finding a couple of fossils, we found various: exoskeleton, a bone, a claw and a few other things that I have no idea what they are. We also found a starfish – and I hasten to add, we made sure it was dead. One of the things nature walks are good for, is to teach respect for all animals. That live things are not for adding to our treasure collection. So please don’t be concerned that we killed anything before bringing it home!
This post is a plea for help. If any of you are marine biologists/know their stuff where this type of thing is concerned, or know anyone who does please help us identify what we have! If you don’t know, or don’t know anyone who would, please help by sharing this!
Am I right in thinking the above is from a crab?
So if anyone can identify any of these, I’d be most grateful!
