Baking: Christmas Sugar Biscuits

I’ll confess, the only thing christmassy about these is the shape,  but they were a big hit and I’m under orders to make them again pronto.

6oz plain flour
4oz butter
3oz sugar
1 egg yolk
Icing sugar
Cake decorations
Food colouring

Rub the butter into the flour then add the sugar and egg yolk. Mix to a soft dough then wrap in cling film. Chill in the fridge for 20 mins.

Preheat the oven at gas mark 6 amd line two trays with baking parchment.


Take dough out of the fridge and on a floured surface,  roll it out and then cut into shapes.

Bake for 10 – 12 mins swapping halfway through. Leave on trays to cool.


Make up a thick icing using the icing sugar and a little water & food colouring. Ice and decorate.


Leave to set then enjoy!
