Knitting: 2 colour linen stitch

For such a simple pattern, this took 3 or 4 goes to get right. Firstly, you don’t get the right effect if you’re using too fine a wool. Secondly, it’s too easy to get distracted and make mistakes (I listen to podcasts while I’m learning new stitches). But once you get into the swing of it, you’ll fly through.
(YF) – yarn in front
(YB) – yarn at back
K – knit
P- purl
*… * repeat stitches

Row 1 – A K1 *(YF)SL1, K1* K1
Row 2 – A P1 *(YB)SL1, P1* P1
Row 3 – B K1 *(YF)SL1, K1* K1
Row 4 – B P1 *(YB)SL1, P1* P1
